Volunteers

A group of Telus retirees took over the kitchen for a day serving soup and pizza. As well, the group prepared care packages with personal care products, gloves and hats for the Soupateria patrons.

Who volunteers?

Most of the Soupateria's volunteers are seniors from all walks of life who are committed to giving back to the community. A different crew works each day and comes from local churches and the community. This all adds up to 200-300 volunteers each year and requires an amazing level of commitment, dedication and coordination.

What do the volunteers do?

Everything from food pick up, shopping, preparation, serving, volunteer recruitment and coordination, clean up, yard work, building maintenance, fundraising, bookkeeping, promotion, advertising, board membership, and anything else that needs doing. There are no paid staff to accomplish tasks for the Soupateria's operation.   If you would like to help please download our volunteer application form for instructions or send us an email through our Contact page.
